This exhibition is an acknowledgment of the technology and aesthetics that these 3 media share. CALIFORNIA NOW acknowledges that enamel is glass and that enameling is about glazing.
Deborah Lozier, the juror for the enamel category, picked 22 pieces from 13 artists to be in this exhibition. The selection is only a small sample of what is out there but it does hint at both the variety of work and a tilt toward precious use of the medium.
